Fruit Tree Grafting: Saturday 6th March 2027

Discover the magic of grafting!

Grafting is a fascinating and rewarding way to propagate fruit trees, yet itโ€™s a skill that few amateur gardeners try. Grafting is surprisingly simple once you understand the theory behind it and, like most gardening skills, it becomes easier with practice. In this practical, hands-on workshop, youโ€™ll learn how to propagate apple trees using whip and tongue grafting, gaining skills that can also be applied to a wide range of fruit and ornamental trees in your garden or allotment.

Led by our RHS qualified & experienced tutor, you will learn about:

  • The theory behind whip and tongue grafting to produce new fruit trees
  • Cutting and preparing your chosen root stocks and scion wood
  • The choice of rootstocks appropriate for your garden.
  • Sharpening and maintaining your secateurs and garden knives
  • The timing and aftercare of grafts
