Would you like to volunteer to help renovate this āsecret walled gardenā back to its former Victorian glory ?Ā
The Lodge walled garden has been in cultivation since the 18th Century, but had been somewhat neglected in more recent years. We are bringing the garden back into productive use and creating a beautiful space for the community to enjoy.Ā Why not join our team of enthusiastic volunteers? There are a range of tasks from light weeding,Ā digging, potting, old wall restoration and other practical tasks.
Walled Garden task days, 10am - 2pm
Now that we have some established beds and paths, there are lightweight weeding tasks to keep areas maintained as well as the digging needed to clear new ground. So we have tasks to suit all. We could definitely do with a few more people to help push progress forwards!

Our community garden is a valued green space offering calm, connection and fresh air in an urban setting. We want to build on this by making thoughtful improvements that will allow even more people to enjoy the garden comfortably and confidently.
We are looking at ways to enhance entrances and pathways, create better places to sit and pause, and improving access to key areas of the garden.Ā We know you would like the space to be easier for people of all ages and abilities to use.Ā Ā We have plans for simple changes to help wheelchair users, families with buggies and older visitors move around more freely and spend longer enjoying the garden.
These improvements include practical features that support gardening and volunteering, with safer layouts around growing areas and more accessible water points. We want to make the garden more inclusive, easier to care for, and better suited to community activities to enable the community garden to reach its full potential as a welcoming, accessible and enjoyable space for the whole community.
