Tools for Self Reliance
The Sutton branch of the charity Tools for Self Reliance is based at The Lodge.  They use the workshop facilities on site on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Most of their time is spent reconditioning old tools, either for sale to raise funds for the charity or for sending abroad to help people in Central Africa build sustainable livelihoods.  The local group is a lively bunch with varied skills and experience developed over many years in all kind of jobs and industries.  All are volunteers.  If you would like to find out more, contact details are available via their website.

Sutton Nature Conservation Volunteers
Based at The Lodge, working closely with the Biodiversity team at London Borough of Sutton who keep their equipment here,  the volunteers help maintain many of the Borough’s sites of interest for nature conservation, including the Ecology Centre grounds.  They are always interested in hearing from people wanting to take part.  See their website for more information in their activities.

Sutton Ecology Centre
The Ecology Centre  is part of the London Borough of Sutton’s Biodiversity Team and is the main resource for environmental education in the borough.   Set in the beautiful grounds surrounding The Lodge they run educational visits for schools as well as events for adults, families and children, birthday parties, volunteer days and much more.  See their facebook page here.  It’s an excellent place for a stroll and to find out about wildlife habitats, composting, organic and wildlife gardening.

Wildlings Forest School
They provide an outdoor learning experience for children ages 2-12 years.  Using the ‘Forest School’ approach, Wildlings sessions give children regular opportunities to explore, play, achieve, develop confidence and learn new skills through hands on experiences in the natural environment.  They run preschool sessions where each week children enjoy woodland crafts, muddy play, stories, singing, a drink and snack plus much more!  Find them on facebook here
