Sutton Nature Conservation Volunteers

Sutton Nature Conservation Volunteers (SNCV) is the main nature conservation organisation operating within Sutton. They get together regularly to clear a range of sites around the borough in co-operation with the council.

They welcome new volunteers, the tasks are good fun and they are a nice bunch of people to be with.

You can make a contribution to the environment and acquire a lot of like-minded friends at the same time.

It’s all happening at Wallington Farmers’ Market this Saturday 14th Sept, 9am-1pm. With over 30 stalls you’ll find seasonal fruit and veg, micro greens, organic bread, preserves and local honey, vegan foods, peanut butter, chilli sauces, cake, middle eastern pitta and dips, free range eggs & poultry, grass fed beef, game, artisan chocolates, cheeses, pies, seafood and line caught fish, award winning spirits, coffee, fruit juices, handmade aromatherapy skincare products, soaps and soy wax melts, garden plants, art and crafts. Once you’ve shopped – you can relax with coffee from the café in the library garden while you enjoy the live jazz music and be entertained by Madder Mill Mollie dancers.

Carshalton’s own professional orchestra, Thames Sinfonia, will give the premiere of a piece, “Carshalton Beeches” by Matthew Taylor, inspired by Stravinsky’s famous "Dumbarton Oaks", at a concert on Saturday 7th September at 8pm in All Saints Church, Carshalton.

This will be the perfect opportunity for music-loving locals to meet up after the summer holidays and enjoy a glass of Pimms and an hour of beautiful music. The orchestra comprises 17 professional musicians, and there will be the chance to meet them after the concert.

The programme opens with Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No 3, which itself inspired Stravinsky’s “Dumbarton Oaks”, a piece which still sounds as fresh as the day it was written. Dumbarton Oaks is followed immediately by its new companion piece, “Carshalton Beeches”.

Local violinist, Alison Strange, is the soloist in Vivaldi’s “Summer” from The Seasons which brings this sparkling concert to a close.

Hi Everyone,

We just wanted to take a moment to say a massive thank you to each and every one of you who helped make Carshalton EcoFair 2024 such an amazing success! Being part of a team of over 100 volunteers this year was truly one of the best experiences, and we’re incredibly proud of what we all achieved together.

To our fellow volunteers—wow, we absolutely smashed it! From setting up everything over the weekend to keeping everything running smoothly throughout the day, and clearing up afterwards, we showed what real teamwork looks like. It was hard work, but seeing everyone enjoying themselves made it all worthwhile. We’re all so grateful to have worked alongside such an incredible team.

A huge shout-out to the musicians and entertainers—you brought the energy and made the fair so much fun. Your tunes, laughs, and performances really took the vibe to the next level. The atmosphere was electric, and that’s all thanks to your talent and creativity.

And, of course, a massive thank you to the stallholders. You brought some seriously cool and eco-friendly products to the fair, and it was fantastic to see so many people excited about supporting local businesses. You’re a huge part of what makes the EcoFair so special, showing everyone that living sustainably can be both fun and rewarding.

For us, the Carshalton EcoFair is more than just a day out—it’s an event that brings our community together and makes a real difference. It’s inspiring to see how much we can achieve when we all come together with the same goal. This year’s fair proved that when we work as a team, we can create something truly special.

EcoLocal, the charity based in Carshalton, is the friendly organising force behind the EcoFair. As volunteers ourselves we’d like to thank again everyone who was part of it. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year, and we hope to see you there!
