This coming Saturday 14th February, when the day is still deciding what sort of day it will be, Wallington Farmers’ Market gently arrives from 9am to 1pm, tucked around the Old Town Hall and Library Gardens.

There are apples that look as though they’ve been enjoying the season just a little longer than everyone else, pears that are particularly pleased with themselves, and plenty of other good things grown with patience and care. Some are crisp, some are comforting, and all of them quietly insist on being taken home. 🍎🍐

People wander. Conversations happen. Bags slowly fill with food meant for later — though sometimes “later” turns out to be quite soon. It’s the kind of morning where choosing fruit feels important, but never rushed.

Because Saturdays, like good markets, are meant to be savoured. (photos courtesy of Bessborough Farm)

I’m back in Wallington soon! 🎉

First event of the year at Wallington Farmers’ Market - Sat 14 Feb, 9am–1pm.

Please may we manifest some dry weather? 🤞I think we have all had enough of the rain recently. I’ll be there rain or shine under the stripes!

If the wet weather has played havoc with your skin or lips, come and have a chat with me and try some products out.

Valentine’s Day gift ideas galore: award-winning lip balms, soothing facial oils, room mists and some brand new ready-to-gift sets.

✅ Click & Collect - order ahead (link below) and pick up at the market

✅ Online gift vouchers available - perfect last minute! (Also linked below)

And this is also a gentle reminder: treat yourself as well as the people you love - self-care matters 💜

Hope to see you on Saturday!

We did it — thank you! 💚🚲

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we’ve successfully reached our crowdfunding target for new adapted cycles for our Inclusive Cycling project. With your support — and Sport England’s match funding — we can now replace essential specialist bikes and keep inclusive cycling going for hundreds of local people.

This means disabled people, older adults and families can continue cycling together in a safe, friendly and accessible environment. It means fewer waiting times, more choice of bikes, and more smiles on the track.

We are so grateful to everyone who donated, shared the campaign, spread the word, or cheered us on. This really matters — and it only happened because people cared.

We’re keeping the campaign open, as additional funds will help us invest in even more adapted cycles in the future — but today is very much about saying thank you.

You’ve helped keep inclusive cycling rolling 💚
From all of us at EcoLocal — thank you.

Currants are small, but they make up for it by being very keen. Blackcurrants, redcurrants, gooseberries and jostaberries all turn up with the same message: give us a bit of attention and we’ll look after you for years.

If you’ve ever stood in a supermarket holding a tiny punnet and thinking “how can these cost this much?”, this workshop is for you.

On Saturday 28th February (10.30am–3pm), we’re hosting a wonderfully practical Currant Growing & Winter Pruning workshop at Carshalton Community Allotment. Led by our RHS-qualified fruit grower (who really does know where to cut and where not to), you’ll learn:
• how to grow and care for different currants
• how to prune them properly (without panicking)
• how to deal with pests and diseases without reaching for the chemicals

And this isn’t just watching someone else do it — you’ll be pruning real bushes, with plenty of blackcurrants, redcurrants and gooseberries to practise on.

£39 for the day, or £60 if you book this and our summer pruning workshop in June (because currants like consistency).

📍 Carshalton Community Allotment, SM5 2PW
📅 Saturday 28th February 2026
🔗 Details & booking: www.ecolocalgardeningschool.uk

You’ll go home slightly muddy, much more confident — and never look at a currant the same way again

“I can't use a two wheel bike due to balance + co-ordination issues - so these sessions allow me to cycle in the outdoors, which I've never had access to before!”
