During lockdown we had to take the decision to cancel the normal Monday and Friday supported drop in gardening sessions at the Carshalton community allotment.
However a small team of local volunteers have dedicated their time to looking after Carshalton Community Allotment and growing fresh vegetables for donation to Sutton Women Centre food bank for women in crisis. There has been an increased demand for this food bank from women in need since covid-19 and we are delighted to be able to help in this way.
We plan to get back to running gardening sessions for people who need support to take part in allotment food growing later in the autumn. If you have any questions, comments or ideas please get in contact: email@example.com or call 020 8404 1522.
In normal circumstances we offer free, supported gardening sessions at the Carshalton Community Allotment and when sessions are up and running again, all ages and levels of experience will be welcome. Gardening can be a wonderfully satisfying activity for anyone, regardless of age and ability. Enjoy the outdoors, meet other people, learn new skills, get a bit of exercise and take a share of the harvest home to eat! Normally we are open in rain and sun:
Mondays 1.00pm – 3.00pm (under review)
Fridays 10.30am – 12.30pm (under review)
We will also be looking at introducing a booking system. You can email firstname.lastname@example.org, or phone 020 8404 1522 if you’d like more information.
We usually only close on Bank Holiday Mondays, a break over Christmas and when snow settles on the ground.
Once we’re back, be prepared to bring wellies or other shoes you don’t mind getting muddy and warm clothes if it’s cold!
We are always looking for volunteers to help on the allotment, either as gardeners of any ability or those who can support other participants. Please click here for details.
