Wallington Farmers' Market – Saturday 8 August, 9.00am–1.00pm

Some temptations simply can't be resisted...

Perhaps it's the crisp bite of the first Kent apples of the season, the kind you've waited all summer to taste. Or maybe it's the irresistible aroma of freshly baked bread drifting across the square, drawing you ever closer until resistance is quite impossible.

This Saturday, outside the Old Town Hall and in the library gardens, over 30 passionate growers, producers and artisan makers await. Their stalls overflow with summer fruit, freshly picked vegetables, tomatoes, aubergines, sweet peppers, mushrooms, microgreens, sprouts and edible plants. There will be grass-fed beef, free-range pork and poultry, traditional sausages, free-range eggs, artisan and goat's milk cheeses, fruit juices, preserves, peanut butter, chilli products, Kent cobnuts and walnuts, healthy snacks, spirits and brandy.

And then... there's Connie. Returning with the carrot cake that has won more hearts than Cupid himself.

If that's still not enough to steal your heart, you'll discover beautiful garden plants, handmade jewellery, luxurious aromatherapy skincare, essential oils, candles and diffusers waiting to seduce your senses.

As you stroll through the market, pause to meet the wonderful Carshalton Fruit Pickers, find out more about fostering, and let The Macaroons Jazz Band provide the soundtrack to a perfect Saturday morning.

Come for the apples... stay because you simply won't want to leave.

The countdown to the EcoFair has begun!
There's now less than a month to go until the EcoFair returns to Carshalton Park on Bank Holiday Monday, 31 August, 10.30am – 8pm. The excitement is building as hundreds of volunteers, performers, exhibitors and local organisations work together to create one of the borough's biggest community events.

Our three solar-powered stages are taking shape with an incredible programme of live music and entertainment, local artists and craftspeople are putting the finishing touches to their work, delicious food is being planned, the real ale is on order and the WI are already thinking about the wonderful cakes they'll be serving in their famous tea tent. Behind the scenes, marquees are being checked, equipment prepared, signs made and countless other jobs completed to make sure everything is ready for the big day.

The EcoFair is organised entirely by volunteers, and we'd love a few more people to join the team. Whether you can spare an hour or two putting up posters, welcome visitors on the day, help with stewarding or lend a hand packing everything away afterwards, you'll be making a real contribution to an event that raises vital funds for EcoLocal's environmental and community projects. Many of our volunteers tell us they enjoy meeting new people, learning new skills and being part of something really special.

If you've ever wondered what it's would be like to help organise one of Carshalton's best-loved community events, this is your chance. We'd especially love to hear from anyone who enjoys working as part of a friendly team and would like to get involved.
To volunteer, or simply find out more, please get in touch—we'd be delighted to welcome you.
