We have a wonderful coach outing planned to take in two gardens near Enfield.

Garden One – Myddelton House Gardens:
Myddelton House Gardens were the lifelong home of Edward Augustus “Gussie” Bowles, one of Britain’s most celebrated self-taught gardeners and plant experts.

The gardens are rich in character, curiosity and horticultural history, with fine trees and shrubs, a restored heritage kitchen garden, cut-flower beds and many unusual plants collected by Bowles on his travels. One of the most intriguing areas is the famous “Lunatic Asylum”, planted with contorted and curious forms, reflecting Bowles’ love of the eccentric. The gardens also feature a rock garden, pergola and many hidden surprises.

A highlight of any visit is the beautifully restored Victorian Glasshouse with four climatic zones housing everything from desert cacti to tropical air plants, as well as the historic sunken Peach House.

Garden Two – Capel Manor:
Just up the road we will then explore Capel Manor with over 40 colourful, themed gardens surrounding a handsome Georgian manor house. Highlights include the elegant 17th Century Gardens, showcasing traditional planting, and Johnsons Garden, which blends trees, shrubs and fruit production. The Queen Mother’s Garden and Diana Legacy Rose Garden add layers of royal history and celebration.

The Walled Garden blends productive and ornamental planting, while the Low Allergen Garden and Garden of Exaggerated Beauty offer quirky, sensory plant experiences.
With your donations and Sport England’s generous match funding — we can now replace several adapted cycles that were no longer usable after many years of constant use. But you can still help if you can....

We’re delighted to share that our Inclusive Cycling crowdfunding campaign has been successful, thanks to the amazing support of our local community. But you can still help..

We can now replace several adapted cycles that were no longer usable after many years of constant use. These new handcycles, trikes, side-by-side bikes and accessible two-wheelers will ensure that disabled people, older adults and families can continue to enjoy cycling together at the David Weir Leisure Centre.

Over 980 people take part in Inclusive Cycling each year. Reaching this target means reduced waiting times, greater choice of bikes, and a programme that remains welcoming, safe and fully accessible for everyone who relies on it.

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, shared the campaign, or encouraged others to get involved. Your support has made a real, tangible difference to people’s lives.

We’ve chosen to keep the campaign open, Find out more here as any additional funds raised will help us invest in more adapted cycles in the future — but above all, this moment is about celebrating what we’ve achieved together.

Thank you for helping keep inclusive cycling active, inclusive and thriving.
