The art of plant propagation is as old as civilisation. With techniques learned and adapted from nature, we can produce plants for our gardens and allotments, with enough left over to share with friends. Plant propagation uses entirely logical and explainable techniques which, when understood and practiced, become simple, easy and even addictive!
In this one-day practical workshop we will cover a range of techniques that can be undertaken throughout the shorter days of autumn and winter, some of which may be unfamiliar even to seasoned propagators. You’ll learn about:
- Hardwood cuttings
- Leaf cuttings
- Root cuttings
- Air layering
- Seed sowing including chipping and vernalisation
With lots of information and a range of propagated plants to take home, this workshop will be of interest to new and experienced gardeners alike.
Held at: The Victorian Walled Garden, Ecolocal, The Lodge, Honeywood walk, Carshalton SM5 3NX. Within the grounds of Carshalton Ecology Centre, by the ponds.
